From the time we left our La Jolla home headed for Kauai, my husband Roy and I, had a blast meeting parents with toddlers / early readers and giving away my children’s sing-along book… at the airport, at restaurants and cafes, at our hotel’s activity center… we called it “Roy’s Giveaway Campaign”.

Once in Kauai, we connected with several retailers there and I’m delighted that “Annie Kai Lani Kai Lou: Kauai’s Beloved Pup” soft cover books can now be found at the Kauai Store in Kapaa and The Kauai Plantation Railway Gift Shop by Gaylord’s Restaurant in Lihue.

We held a storytelling and booksigning at the Kauai Humane Society, an organization we support with proceeds from the sale of the Kauai version of my children’s sing-along book. Likewise, we donate a portion of my Maui version (Book 2) – Annie Kai Lani Kai Lou: Maui’s Beloved Pup to the Maui Humane Society. To both organizations, we also donate Hawaiian-themed bandanas for families who adopt pets from these shelters.

Not being able to travel to Maui due to the fires, I instead decided to search out organizations that would benefit from receiving a book donations and discovered “Na Keiki O Emalia” a children’s grief counseling organization. What a joy to provide books to children affected by the tragic Maui fires.

Staying at the Marriott, we were sure to provide our hotel with complimentary download cards for their guests with toddlers and early readers to get the cartoon video versions of the books for free…. and they, in turn, shared them with a nearby school!

The trip was incredible on all fronts and I am grateful for the amazing connections we made in Kauai!
